The SEEQS Governing Board is a committed and experienced group of educators, professionals, and community members who bring a range of skills and knowledge to meet the diverse needs of charter school governance. Marvin Heskett – Governing Board Member
Marvin Heskett was raised with sustainability at the heart of family life. He is currently a practicing environmental consultant and an environmental chemist. Marvin received a B.S. in biochemistry from California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo and has worked as a mass spec. chemist, quality assurance officer, and laboratory director prior to taking on the role of a consultant. As a consultant he has worked with the State of Hawaii Department of Health in innovating novel approaches to solving environmental problems throughout the Pacific Region. He is the father of a SEEQer and has enjoyed observing his son grow with SEEQS's progressive approach. Marvin is an active member of the Honolulu community, having served on the Palolo Neighborhood Board and as the chairperson for the Surfrider Foundation Oahu Chapter. He also helped found the Surfrider Spirit Sessions and is an avid surfer and bodysurfer.
Tyler Fujita – Governing Board Vice Chair
Tyler Fujita is the Assistant Director of the Wo International Center at Punahou School. In this role, he works on programs related to global and experiential/travel-based education. Tyler believes in the power of education to frame the questions that young people will use to identify what they want most from life, and its role in cultivating the skills, strength of character, and general goodness that will help them get there.
Tyler began his work in education at SEEQS, where he spent four years in various classroom and administrative roles. He also brings previous experience as a management consultant and nonprofit program officer. Tyler earned an M.Ed. in Curriculum Studies from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
Sean Kettley – Governing Board Chair & Treasurer
Sean Kettley is a Senior Associate with Commercial Asset Advisors, a commercial real estate firm in Honolulu. He primarily focuses on office leasing and sales and has been involved with SEEQS throughout the process of identifying a long-term campus location (prior to relocating to Kaimuki High School). Sean has been an active member of the finance committee since 2016 and joined the board in 2019. Prior to embarking on a career in commercial real estate, Sean spent over 15 years working with internet startups and educational companies to develop and execute their marketing programs. Aside from work, Sean coaches soccer and spends his free time driving to and from the various activities of his two children. Being a parent of a high-schooler and a college student provides Sean with a unique perspective of what kids and parents are looking for in an education.
Justin Levinson - Governing Board Member
Justin Levinson is a Professor of Law at the University of Hawaii, where he teaches business law and criminal law courses. He is a scholar in the field of implicit bias and the law, where he develops modern social cognition-based measures in legal contexts. Before becoming a law professor, Justin practiced corporate law at Silicon Valley’s largest firm, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. He has held academic positions at Beijing University, UC Berkeley, and at Nagoya University.
Benjamin Lukey – Governing Board Member
Benjamin Lukey received his doctorate in comparative philosophy from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. His interests in philosophy of disability, comparative philosophy, and philosophy for children (p4c) have developed from his broader goal of including more voices in philosophical discourse. Since 2007, he has been part the p4c Hawai‘i initiative at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, piloting and developing a Philosopher in Residence project at Hawaii public high schools. Dr. Lukey continues to support p4c Hawaii teachers and students at Waimanalo Elementary & Intermediate School, Kailua High School, Waikiki Elementary, Ka’elepulu Elementary, and the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. He is currently Associate Director for the UH Uehiro Academy for Philosophy and Ethics in Education.

Diamond Tachera – Governing Board Secretary
Diamond Tachera is a kanaka ‘ōiwi (Native Hawaiian) born and raised on Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi. She completed her Ph.D. in Earth and Planetary Sciences from the Department of Earth Sciences in the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Diamond is currently a Project Scientist I at the NSF National Center for Atmospheric Research working in the Mesoscale and Microscale Meteorology Laboratory, serves as co-director of the NSF NCAR Rising Voices Center for Indigenous and Earth Sciences, and is working on the Rising Voices Changing Coasts hub project.
