Cat Matthews
School Counselor
Cat was born and raised in Hawaii and attended Punahou, where she got her first taste for counseling through their peer counseling program. She got her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Harvard University and then went on to get her Master’s in Social Work from UCLA. She spent the next 13 years working at a residential and school treatment program for youth with behavioral problems in California. During that time Cat started off as a social worker and got promoted to Clinical Director before taking over as the Executive Director in 2019. However, in 2022 she decided to move her family home to Oahu so that her children could grow up with their grandparents. After transitioning out of her role with her previous program, Cat was looking for a new opportunity to continue to serve youth and the larger community. She found SEEQS and is excited to be part of students’ journey as they continue developing their sense of self through these formative years.
“I work at SEEQS because I want to help youth grow into empathetic and responsible citizens who work actively to take care of each other and the world around them.”
