Why SEEQS?

Meaningful Learning Experiences

SEEQS students do real work with real-world impacts, driven by their own passions, and supported by invested, award-winning educators. They leave SEEQS with the knowledge, skills, and tools to make valuable contributions in whatever they choose to pursue next. Our whole school is designed to help develop 'whole' students!

SEEQers will be stewards of planet Earth and healthy, effective citizens of the world.

At SEEQS, powerful core learning in math, science, social studies, English, and the arts combines with project-based experiences that allow students to apply what they have learned to real-world situations. The following explains each section of our innovative school model.

  • A strong school community forms the soil in which everything else can grow.

Community is at the heart of our school. Students join multi-age advisory groups that serve as their home base. Through RULER and p4c Hawaiʻi, we support emotional growth and critical thinking. We use restorative practices to build a culture of care, where everyone takes part in creating a healthy, connected, intellectually-safe community.

  • Rigorous academic content courses enable students to cultivate the knowledge and skills of the disciplines.

Passionate teachers engage students in rich academic learning during 70-minute blocks that allow for deep exploration and discussion. While SEEQS students perform well on standardized tests, we also prioritize real-world learning through student-led conferences, exhibitions, and Portfolio Defenses that showcase true mastery.

  • Interdisciplinary project-based EQS courses empower students to apply their learning in real-world contexts.

All students take interdisciplinary, project-based courses that explore complex sustainability issues. Co-taught by teachers across subjects, these courses highlight human-environment connections, engage community partners, empower student choice, and culminate in authentic exhibitions.

  • Through it all, students develop proficiency in the SEEQS Sustainability Skills.

At SEEQS, Living Sustainably is one of our core values - helping ensure that the planet can continue to support life as we know it for humans and other living species. Students develop key skills—analytical reasoning, effective management, powerful communication, productive collaboration, and systemic thinking—to become responsible stewards of the planet and healthy, effective global citizens.
